Last weekend was the launch party for the new socially conscious line Make One LA at The Central in Santa Monica. The line aims to give back to the community and charities by donating 1$ from every item sold (with an emphasis on social justice for homeless and low income individuals). The brands designer, Ami Perreault, created every piece by hand and used the finest jersey material making every top comfortable as well as creative.

Last night was opening night of the fourth annual Sunset Strip Music Festival featuring a special Motley Crue tribute that was held at the House of Blues. Motley will be playing Saturday during the street festival that will be taking place on Sunset between San Vicente and Doheny. The days event’s will include vendors, VIP rooftop lounges, VIP areas in The Roxy and The Key Club, a beer garden, autograph tent and interactive experiences all day on The Strip.

Congrats to SSMF’s 2011 honorees Motley Crue…the only band worth seeing at this festival in my opinion. If I didn’t have to be crammed into a crowd of middle-aged women re-living their glory years in front of the Motley stage (like I have experienced a time or two already now) I would so be at this festival. The words “Motley” and ‘Beer Garden” have a magnet type effect on me.

Why is Kim Kardashian at the Do Something Awards?? The Awards, which were held last night in Los Angeles are focused on teaching kids to do good in their communities and the world overall. In an excerpt from the LA times the awards were described as follows,

” a celebrat[ion] [of] a young generation of leaders who care about causes such as special-needs kids, ending hunger and educating refugee children.”

If Kim Kardashian does anything but primp and take herself too seriously then may God strike me dead. This superficial phony could care less about doing stuff to benefit those who are in need. She is too busy making sure her eyelashes look long, her butt looks big and her head looks small. (Best of luck with that the last one.)

This award show’s seats needed to be filled with the likes of Angelina Jolie, Leonardo Dicaprio, Justin Timberlake, Hayden Panetierre and people who actually use their fame for good, not ridiculousness.

But on a lighter note- the Biebs is lookin’ fine as usual.

So I had the pleasure of attending this event Saturday evening at the gorgeous Soho House in West Hollywood. Guests noshed on Charcuterie plates and sipped champagne while viewing the new line of jewelry by Saint Vintage Designs. The party was hosted by Jamie King and Nikki Hilton and was held to benefit Stand Up 2 Cancer. With a great turnout, as well as an overall exquisite atmosphere, the line got the proper launch it deserved.

Gwen Stefani and her husband Gavin Rossdale were among the many celebs that attended last nights amfAR’s Cinema Against Aids Gala in France. Gwen looked amazing in a gold belted black mermaid gown designed by none other than her own fashion house L.A.M.B.
The Gala was successful in raising a record breaking 10 Million dollars for the cause.

Haven’t posted in a while so thought I would get my feet wet with a little diddy on my fav girls: Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen. The twins, seen here with Diane Von Furstenberg (who hosted the event) were at the CFDA meeting in New York today. The CDFA is the Council of Fashion Designers and other attendees included, Rachel Roy, Derek Lam and my favorite jewelry designer the one and only David Yurman.

The Badgley Mischka flagship store opening in Beverly Hills happened earlier this week, and ladies and gentlemen I would like you to direct your attention to the photo above that was taken at the event. See the two men there? That is Mark Badgley and James Mischka, the designers and founders of the line ( if your brain is too slow to have realized that by their surnames).
Now take a good long look at them. These are the men that have the creativity and design capabilities to have made the stunning gowns that they are famous for, yet, they are the same men who thought making Rumer Willis the face of their line campaign would be a good idea.
It’s a mind bender, I know.

Mila Kunis in Elie Saab

Reese Witherspoon in Giorgio Armani Prive

The 83rd Academy Awards was mediocre at best. The show was as run of the mill as the gowns were and the latter was the most disappointing of the two. No one expects the actual show to be full of shocks and awes but the clothing, the clothing is what it is all about! Not this year. I don’t know what was going on with these dresses but I am not even going to waste my time posting them all ’cause they are all awful. So I am doing a cliffs notes version of just the best and worst.

Best goes to Mila Kunis for her Elie Saab gown that was a light lavender. It was the only gown that struck out as being truly gorgeous. The color is beautiful and the lace detail and train make it definitely worthy of my “Best” vote.

Now for the Worst. Reese, Reese, Reese, oh honey what happened here? Maybe you came down with a slight case of amnesia and forgot you were going to the Oscars…in 2011. Not your prom….in 1990. This black and white dress is so awful and boring. All she is missing here are elbow length satin gloves… and a seat by the punch bowl. This outfit is so the “Worst”.

Shannon Brown, Derek Fisher, Kobe Bryant, and George Lopez

At the height of awards season here, don’t expect The Cartoon Network to allow themselves to be left out of the mix.
They have held their own “Hall of Game” Awards show which took place yesterday in Santa Monica and will air this Friday. The awards were all sports related and such accolades as; He’s Got Game (best male athlete) and Gnarliest Newb (Best Rookie) etc. were given out.
I mean, I love sports awards shows because where else to you get all the most awesome athletes in one room, but Cartoon Network? Random. Oh well, I’ll take it. And Kobe better take that “He’s Got Game” award.
