One-stop shop and literally one of my favorite stores, Walmart, is about to add a new line to their beauty aisles, only this one is not for lookin’ good at the club, it’s for lookin’ good…..
at recess?
GeoGirl is a beauty line aimed at the ” Tweens” of America, specifically 8-12 year olds. The line which has been stirring up controversy, due to the issue of contributing to the “over-sexualising” of children, will offer mascara, blush, face shimmer and lipstick, all of which are natural and “eco-friendly”. But here is the kicker, the line is supposedly “Anti-aging”. Anti-aging for 8 year olds?
According to the dailymail, the lines marketing team states the following;
“the formulas are designed for ‘young skin’ and contain natural ingredients like white willow bark, chamomile, lavender and calendula, as well as anti-oxidants which are said to prevent aging.”
While I doubt the goal of the line is to create anti-aging results in the children, the ingredients are there. Hitting shelves February 21st, the brand is set to replace my girls Mary-Kate and Ashley’s brand which was a long standing beauty brand for youth at Walmart.
I personally don’t find a problem with this. Every little girl likes to wear play make-up and this brand just offers parents a little comfort in knowing that the tons of gunk all over their little girls face (and on her teeth) is natural and chemical free. It’s only if the parents let their kids wear it out of the house and/or makes the child feel the make-up is making them more beautiful that negative implications will arise.
As for the ‘anti-aging” that’s just a coincidence of the ingredients containing anti-oxidants. Little Katie or whatever your daughters name is has anti-oxidants in her morning OJ. Is she is drinking it purposely at breakfast to keep her 10 year old glow?! gasp!- Gimme a break. It’s all in good fun. Not at all like the girl above, now that’s just weird.
