The Daily Faves

Have you had your Daily fix today?

Drake won Best Male Hip Hop Artist last night at the 2010 BET Awards and it was well deserved. Beating out B.O.B, Ludacris, Fabolous, and the one and only Jay-Z. If you ask me these nominees are kinda whack. What has Fabolous done this year besides give us “Throw it in the Bag”? Whatever, at least Drizzy won, although Hov could have won too and I’d be happy, but his ass didn’t even bother to show up to the show so guess it’s better this way. What we could have done without was the whole damn Young Money team up on stage. Back up Lil’ Twist, this is Drakes moment, not yours.

So I love that EMINEM gets to perform at the Black Entertainment Television Awards. He is so amazing and if you haven’t bought his new album “Recovery” yet you are missing out. Last night he performed “I’m Not Afraid” which was his first single off the album. Every shot of the OG audience showed them either standing up or bobbing their heads to the beat which I found myself doing as well as I watched from my couch. Now all we need is Em’s to go on tour soon! Fingers Crossed XX

So I have spent a lot of time hatin’ on Jessica Biel. I was never really a fan and disliked her since her 7th Heaven days. She never did much and always was at awards shows and premiers acting as if she was still relevant, and maybe she was- on the basis she is dating Justin T. Sort of the way that horrid little Vanessa Hudgens acts, basically doing nothing but being annoying and popping up everywhere ’cause she is with the Zef. Anyway, I am taking back my remarks I have made about Jessica in the past. Ever since “Valentines Day” (where she played a character that was scarily similar to my own personality) I kind of like her. Although she is still dressing badly, her hair and face look great. She’s really pretty and I never saw it so much before. So props to Jess you just climbed up Sarah Wilson’s fave’s ladder.

This little girl Maddi Jane is an amazing singer who sang so beautifully on Ellen today that I had to share it with you. I LOVE this song. And even though she is only 11 years old and obviously doesn’t know the depth and emotion that comes with the lyrics’ meaning she still manages to hold it down.
Watch out Miley Cyrus. Watch Out.

Cut to about 1:49 if you don’t want to watch the interview beforehand.

So as someone who literally wears black Havaianas everyday (and rarely ventures away from that standard) I gotta say these little flippy-floppies are adorable. And at $3.50! - definitely can’t go wrong there.

Check out the sweet sounding voice of up and coming acoustic singer, Joseph Vincent. Joseph was featured on the Ellen Degeneres show today after being a hit on Youtube. His “Replay” cover has gotten over 1 million hits and counting. I listened to a few of his other covers, as well as original songs, and they are all amazing. I expect to see a lot more of this little cutie. Screw American Idol, YouTube is seriously the way to fame. Congrats Joseph!

So here is the second single of Drakes’ much anticipated (official debut) album “Thank Me Later” due out June 15th 2010. The song is a more mellow follow-up to the first single “Over” -which displays Drakes’ range quite well. The track didn’t grab me like “Over” did, but it has some good lyrics in there and I’m sure it will grow on me. What do you think? Follow the link below to listen.

The Mc
RibTwist is back.

So congratulations to my Winter Olympic boyfriend Shaun White (not to be confused with my Summer Olympic boyfriend Michael Phelps). Shaun won Olympic Gold last night in the Halfpipe with a score of 46.8 on his first run and a 48.4 on his second run (which was initially just a victory run, since no one had beaten his first runs score) in which he ended with his signature double McTwist 1260. Pretty Legit Shaun. Pretty Legit.

Kid Cudi is featured in the current issue of Time Out New York as one of their “Most Stylish New Yorkers” and I completely agree. On his inspiration, Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi says,
“I always took [style tips] from my older brother and sister, who wore simple, classic things. But I still layered a lot, and in high school, I was a young young’un, all Phat Farmed–out, wearing Sean John, Ecko, Rocawear and Akademiks. I felt like I needed to buy what was cool, instead of just wearing comfortable shit. Now I feel like my personality is this character, and when you watch a cartoon show, the characters aren’t changing their outfit every 15 seconds. That’s why I wear the same jeans every day.”

Calling his style “simple and classic” he is a male fashion-ista to be watched. With his skinny jeans and simplistic tee’s he stands out in an unassuming way. Lots of layering adds to his dressing dynamic and although he keeps it low key in most pieces, he does throw in a few really nice accessories to tip the scale. A+
Just one more reason to love him.

Jessica Alba, I love you. I do. But you look terrible! That dress, that hair, the shoes. I am disappointed. You haven’t starred in a movie in so long. This was your comeback red carpet and you look like a wet bird. I am sad.

On the other hand, Anne Hathaway looks gorgeous! OK well, the dress is gorgeous (her hair would have looked better down) but we’ll take what we can get. Kudos Hath!

Valentines Day opens Friday.
