Mila Kunis in Elie Saab

Reese Witherspoon in Giorgio Armani Prive

The 83rd Academy Awards was mediocre at best. The show was as run of the mill as the gowns were and the latter was the most disappointing of the two. No one expects the actual show to be full of shocks and awes but the clothing, the clothing is what it is all about! Not this year. I don’t know what was going on with these dresses but I am not even going to waste my time posting them all ’cause they are all awful. So I am doing a cliffs notes version of just the best and worst.

Best goes to Mila Kunis for her Elie Saab gown that was a light lavender. It was the only gown that struck out as being truly gorgeous. The color is beautiful and the lace detail and train make it definitely worthy of my “Best” vote.

Now for the Worst. Reese, Reese, Reese, oh honey what happened here? Maybe you came down with a slight case of amnesia and forgot you were going to the Oscars…in 2011. Not your prom….in 1990. This black and white dress is so awful and boring. All she is missing here are elbow length satin gloves… and a seat by the punch bowl. This outfit is so the “Worst”.

Last night at the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards I lost my faith in Awards shows.
Was I shocked at Lady Gaga’s ego-tastic entrance? No.
Was I shocked that people of utterly no cause to be at the Grammys would be there (Snookie, Kim Kardashian, Justin Guarini…exactly.) No.
But what did shock me was that the recipient of the Best new Artist Award. Esperanza Spalding, Who the hell are you? I am sure you are a great talent and musical ingenue but no one knows who you are thus making me believe you are not worthy of “Best New Artist” . Am I upset it didn’t go to Justin Bieber who has charmed the world with his insanely hot underage looks and sensational voice?, YES. But more so I believe Drake deserved the award. Drake has been on every top hip-hop track this year, along with being beyond talented and creative. I am deeply saddened by the Grammys this year and really, really, don’t want to see Lady Gaga ever again.

One-stop shop and literally one of my favorite stores, Walmart, is about to add a new line to their beauty aisles, only this one is not for lookin’ good at the club, it’s for lookin’ good…..
at recess?

GeoGirl is a beauty line aimed at the ” Tweens” of America, specifically 8-12 year olds. The line which has been stirring up controversy, due to the issue of contributing to the “over-sexualising” of children, will offer mascara, blush, face shimmer and lipstick, all of which are natural and “eco-friendly”. But here is the kicker, the line is supposedly “Anti-aging”. Anti-aging for 8 year olds?

According to the dailymail, the lines marketing team states the following;

“the formulas are designed for ‘young skin’ and contain natural ingredients like white willow bark, chamomile, lavender and calendula, as well as anti-oxidants which are said to prevent aging.”

While I doubt the goal of the line is to create anti-aging results in the children, the ingredients are there. Hitting shelves February 21st, the brand is set to replace my girls Mary-Kate and Ashley’s brand which was a long standing beauty brand for youth at Walmart.

I personally don’t find a problem with this. Every little girl likes to wear play make-up and this brand just offers parents a little comfort in knowing that the tons of gunk all over their little girls face (and on her teeth) is natural and chemical free. It’s only if the parents let their kids wear it out of the house and/or makes the child feel the make-up is making them more beautiful that negative implications will arise.
As for the ‘anti-aging” that’s just a coincidence of the ingredients containing anti-oxidants. Little Katie or whatever your daughters name is has anti-oxidants in her morning OJ. Is she is drinking it purposely at breakfast to keep her 10 year old glow?! gasp!- Gimme a break. It’s all in good fun. Not at all like the girl above, now that’s just weird.

The 2011 Golden Globes had a lot of hits in terms of fashion. Below are a few of my favorites. The theme of the evening was neutral tones and a lot of green (which I loved).

Amy Adams in Marchesa

Anne Hathaway in Armani Prive

Catherine Zeta Jones in Versace

Claire Danes in Calvin Klein

Gia Mantegna (Miss Golden Globess) in Lorena Sarbu

Mila Kunis in Vera Wang

Zac Efron is filming his new movie “The Lucky One” in New Orleans right now and this is a shot of him on set yesterday looking buffed up! His character is Logan Thibault, a Marine Sergeant, in this Nicholas Sparks adaptation. We all know I can’t watch many Zef movies as well as Josh Duhamel movies as they are too painful. I can’t handle the hotness level. But maybe, just maybe I will see this one ;)

So it’s that time of year again, time for the annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
I love to sit down in front of my TV in my sweats year after year and feel bad about myself.
And each year I vow to make hay of my youth, and start walking around in
bras and wings just cause I can, and should- while my body hasn’t been taken over by age and baby production, yet I never do.
So come November 30 when the show airs, you can count on the fact that I will be watching in my baggy t-shirt, hair-tied back, telling myself I only have a few good years left in me and I need to start wearing body glitter like them.
Yep, thats exactly what I will be thinking.
