The Daily Faves

Have you had your Daily fix today?

So as someone who literally wears black Havaianas everyday (and rarely ventures away from that standard) I gotta say these little flippy-floppies are adorable. And at $3.50! – definitely can’t go wrong there.

Check out the sweet sounding voice of up and coming acoustic singer, Joseph Vincent. Joseph was featured on the Ellen Degeneres show today after being a hit on Youtube. His “Replay” cover has gotten over 1 million hits and counting. I listened to a few of his other covers, as well as original songs, and they are all amazing. I expect to see a lot more of this little cutie. Screw American Idol, YouTube is seriously the way to fame. Congrats Joseph!

So here is the second single of Drakes’ much anticipated (official debut) album “Thank Me Later” due out June 15th 2010. The song is a more mellow follow-up to the first single “Over” -which displays Drakes’ range quite well. The track didn’t grab me like “Over” did, but it has some good lyrics in there and I’m sure it will grow on me. What do you think? Follow the link below to listen.

The Mc
RibTwist is back.

So congratulations to my Winter Olympic boyfriend Shaun White (not to be confused with my Summer Olympic boyfriend Michael Phelps). Shaun won Olympic Gold last night in the Halfpipe with a score of 46.8 on his first run and a 48.4 on his second run (which was initially just a victory run, since no one had beaten his first runs score) in which he ended with his signature double McTwist 1260. Pretty Legit Shaun. Pretty Legit.

Kid Cudi is featured in the current issue of Time Out New York as one of their “Most Stylish New Yorkers” and I completely agree. On his inspiration, Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi says,
“I always took [style tips] from my older brother and sister, who wore simple, classic things. But I still layered a lot, and in high school, I was a young young’un, all Phat Farmed–out, wearing Sean John, Ecko, Rocawear and Akademiks. I felt like I needed to buy what was cool, instead of just wearing comfortable shit. Now I feel like my personality is this character, and when you watch a cartoon show, the characters aren’t changing their outfit every 15 seconds. That’s why I wear the same jeans every day.”

Calling his style “simple and classic” he is a male fashion-ista to be watched. With his skinny jeans and simplistic tee’s he stands out in an unassuming way. Lots of layering adds to his dressing dynamic and although he keeps it low key in most pieces, he does throw in a few really nice accessories to tip the scale. A+
Just one more reason to love him.

Jessica Alba, I love you. I do. But you look terrible! That dress, that hair, the shoes. I am disappointed. You haven’t starred in a movie in so long. This was your comeback red carpet and you look like a wet bird. I am sad.

On the other hand, Anne Hathaway looks gorgeous! OK well, the dress is gorgeous (her hair would have looked better down) but we’ll take what we can get. Kudos Hath!

Valentines Day opens Friday.

Ok, so I was flipping through my magazine this morning when I came across and ad for a new HBO show. In  the ad’s picture was my boyfriend Kid Cudi. I was like “oh hell naw, my boo didn’t tell me he was in a new show!” But then I remembered him saying he was getting into acting and had a show coming out and here it is. “How to make it in America”- Honestly, I don’t know if its something I would have watched if Cudi wasn’t in it but come Sun February 14th when the show debuts at 10pm on HBO I will be watching it. But isn’t that Valentines day you ask? Shouldn’t I have amazing plans to be drinking champagne and eating strawberries or whatever else people in love do together? Well NO, I won’t be. I will probably be doing the champagne drinking part, but I will be doing it in bed. Watching Cudi on the tv because he is effing cooler than any guy I have ever dated anyway. Snap!

Why does the entertainment industry insist on making movies like this? Movies that put false hope and ideals into girls’ minds (and maybe even boys’ minds). “Letter #33″ Puh-leeze. In my experience I can’t even get a text message returned from the
douchebags, men, boys I’ve dealt with in this terrible game called “Love”. I guess that’s the point of movies, and books, and songs…to escape. To pretend that maybe, for a second, one day, it could be like that for you, for me… for all of us.
But I know better. So enjoy the movie, cry, cheer when they end up happily- ever- after, and leave the theater with faith that you one day will have a love story like that to tell. And most importantly, take it for what its worth…entertainment.

*on a lighter note, I am however obsessed with the song at the end of the trailer. Its called Set Fire to The Third Bar by Snow Patrol. It’s old, but really good.

Dear John opens February 5th.

So I saw this movie like 2 weeks ago and have been meaning to write about it, but as we all know I have been lacking in my posts. This movie is amazing, beautiful, funny, sad, real, true, insightful, interesting, the list goes on. You must see it. And, you must know, that I am Tom. And, that this is not a love story…just like my life.
Now you’ll have to excuse me I need to get a beer and throw myself a pity party.
Party on Sarah, party on.

I am not fond of moments when Zac slicks his hair back in his “fancy do” but I will let this slide since it’s the Oscar’s and he was channeling old Hollywood or something.

R-Patz on the other hand, can do no wrong.
